Just Ask Derek!

I began working in mobile homes at age 12, assisting my father with awnings, repairs, and improvements. His work in the industry dated back to the early 1960s, and I worked with him periodically until his passing in 1994. In 1977, after marrying, I joined my father in Idaho to work in his mobile home repair business. We later expanded into the HVAC sector, specializing in mobile homes. In 1980, my parents relocated to Sacramento, California, and I continued business operations in Idaho under “Young’s Heating and Air,” providing HVAC services for both residential and mobile homes.

In 1983, my family moved to Sacramento. In 1986, I obtained a C47 (Manufactured Housing) California Contractors License and established Young’s Mobile Home Service. In 1990, I added mobile home inspection services to the company. After my father’s death in 1994, my brother David joined me to form Young’s Heating and Air Conditioning, and I acquired a C20 (HVAC) California Contractors License. The business focused on the mobile home industry, offering electrical, plumbing, remodeling, roofing, and HVAC services.

In 2014, my son Benjamin took over the HVAC division of the company as Young’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. I continued providing mobile home inspection services through Young’s Mobile Home Service. Early in 2025, health issues required me to step away from physical work in mobile home repairs and HVAC, directing my efforts toward Mobile Home Inspection and Mobile Home Consulting services.
